Palermo, Buenos Aires

We arrived in Buenos Aires last night. After getting a cab and  checking into our fab boutique hotel in Palermo, the Own Palermo Hollywood, we headed out onto the street to get some late night grub. We stopped at a fancy little Italian restaurant a couple of blocks away and had a great dinner. I had home made gnocchi that was excellent. And the bill (with tip) was maybe $20. In Los Angeles that meal would have been $75 or more.

We slept all morning and had brunch at the hotel. And we have been working on the computer and catching up on email.  It is about 5pm and we are heading out to explore the neighborhood. This is a late night city.

So far my impression of Buenos Aires is that it is a hybrid of NYC in the 1970’s and Paris plopped down in South America. That is a very good combo in my mind. I’ll report back more tonight after we go exploring…
