I recently finished a green atrium project for a mid-century house in the Pacific Palisades. I created two new green walls that face one another, refurbished the water feature and added a black tumble rock “beach”. Originally, it was a space to look into, but now it is a garden room that you can enter. It has a chapel like quality. I think it would be a great spot to meditate and do yoga in the early AM.
Here I am adjusting the plants — they have only been planted for one week when this photo was taken. They are already giving good coverage, but eventually they will get a lot larger and poke out from the wall more.
ILLINOIS: LAND OF LINCOLN
We went on our yearly trip to Illinois to visit family and friends. I shot this selfie at the family farm in McLean County, Illinois. I also posted some photos of apple picking on the farm.
Jonathan and I had a great time catching up with my childhood friend, Jeannie Gallucci. She is a lawyer in Chicago who recently started an organic tampon empire. Check out her company website, Orchidea — you can sign up to get auto-deliveries of organic tampons!
It has been an especially c-r-a-z-y month, between travel, BREAKurban projects, a top secret project (I will tell you about it very soon!) and my LASIK surgery. I haven’t had the time to keep up with my blogging as much as I want to (partially because I can SEE the computer very well), but you can always follow along with what I am doing on Instagram.
+ I am really thrilled it’s fall, even though it is still 90 degrees in LA. Last weekend I took a mountain of boots to the cobbler to get polished and got an orange manicure. The summer garden is getting cleared from the test garden this week and we will plant the winter garden (potatoes, carrots, beets, peas, etc.) next week. The knives need to be dropped off to get sharpened. And I am already starting to order caramel making supplies. This is my favorite time of the year~
Happy autumn, northern hemisphere!
